Add a student who is new to Shift

Use this process when you hire a student who has not worked at MSU Libraries before. 

From your dashboard, choose the department to which you wish to add a student, and click the green Manage Employees button. 

On the next screen, click the green Add Employee button.

Click the blue Create New button. 

Fill out the fields with the student's information. 

If the student needs to be added to more departments, select them from the dropdown. 

If the student is to be paid from the Dean's special fund, check the DSF box. 

When you're done, click the green Save button. 

Add a student already in Shift to your department 

Use this process when a student is switching departments within MSU Libraries, or when you are "borrowing" a student from another department, or when you are reactivating a student you previously removed from your department. 

From your dashboard, choose the department to which you wish to add a student, and click the green Manage Employees button. 

On the next screen, click the green Add Employee button.

Type in the student's first name, or last name, or netID, and click the green Add button.
