Ragtime Festival

Last weekend the virtual Ragtime Festival took place. The videos are now available to watch (or re-watch!) at

Digital Commons migration

The import of content is moving along slowly. This week I sent off metadata for University Libraries-specific materials - our faculty and staff's scholarly articles, presentations, and posters, as well as items from the Libraries' history.

Like several other recent projects, this project requires us to construct taxonomy lists for things like majors, degrees, and the names of colleges, departments, research centers, and University offices and admin units. I've been working on that this week.

ArchivesSpace Online Forum

A few of us listened in on sessions from the ArchivesSpace Online Forum. We came away with something to investigate - an integration that could allow us to display ArchivesSpace information in our main website. AS is really hard to understand and navigate (at least for non-archivists) so we will continue to look into this.

Canvas / EBSCO integration

Our developers worked with ITS this week to set up an LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) function that allows Canvas instructors to search our EBSCO databases from within Canvas, and then present articles from them to their students.

Online store

We met with ITS this week to ask them whether they had a preferred e-commerce solution that we could use to rebuild and enhance our online store. To our pleasant surprise, they are working on a brand-new one and are happy to let us use it and offer our own enhancements. Currently our store is limited to Ragtime Festival products, but we plan to expand it to include items from the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library's gift shop as well, so this will be very helpful!

Springshare updates

In Springshare news, there are some interesting enhancements coming up that we'll be keeping an eye on. If you see something that might be extra helpful to your work, let us know and we'll keep an extra-close eye out. (smile)
